my bro and i tried to connect with 1.39 tonight and could not. when we went to connect his screen said that i was connecting but my screen was blank. worried about using 1,39. any help would be great.

Get the Unmanaged Version. We will be using direct connections to one another.

People that normally can't host... can host if they use Hamachi.

i have tried 3 different guys using 1.39 and haven't had any luck. i have been using 1.40 with hamachi for awhile now and have had no problems. not sure what i am doing wrong.

Perhaps 1.40 would be better. I am all for it, can you do a test online game for me and record a video and let me know if it desyncs.

i have never tried to record a game but i will give it a shot tonight. by the way when are you doing the live order of picks.

I guarantee you 1.40 will cause you movie recording issues during the season. There is nothing in 1.4 that you would benefit from over 1.39, save for being able to take a screenshot during netplay.

You're better off sticking with 1.39, as it's the current league standard.

Were you ever able to connect before? Have you checked to make sure XP Firewall, Norton Internet Security, or some other software firewall isn't running? That will definitely stop you from being able to connect.

i have been playing for the past year with 1.40 and never had any troubles. i have used servers, direct connect, and hamachi with 1.40. i will keep trying the 1.39

See.. this is something that will be resolved very soon. I need as much feedback as possible I heard that 1.40 messes up during movie recording.. I heard also that 1.39 doesn't. If someone anyone can post some stuff about this I would appreciate this. If no one can give any solid info I will research it and have it to you all as soon as I can.

I'm not sure what else feedback I can give you man. Let me break it down one more time...the following has been proven via many many league games, community testing, etc...

1.39
Plays games equally to 1.40
Does not desync when playing back recorded movies
Is the standard for league play for most Nestopia leagues

1.40
Plays games equally to 1.39
Does desync on movie playback
Is usually allowed in leagues, but only for games where you don't need a recording (see point #2)

You keep asking for feedback and research on this, but I'm telling you, it's already been done. Since both emulators play games equally, and 1.39 records without desync, that seems to be enough of an advantage that you'd go with 1.39 as your league's emulator.

Not really anything left to debate, is there? I know I haven't been a member of PT a long time, but I have been around Knobbe and Tecmo league play for a while. If my reputation isn't enough, talk to AvgTSBPlayer, Bgboud2...those guys both have been running nestopia leagues for a while now.

1.39 will be the official emulator. I spent 2 and a half hours tonight working on figuring out what could be going wrong for users. I will post a tutorial if it is requested.

That is just the basic set up. I will write a detailed tutorial on how to use 1.39 with hamachi.

We should collaborate. I'm in he middle of writing a comprehensive noob guide to playing online and using Nestopia.
